About
I’m a painter, forager, and natural ink maker living in the Bay Area, California, USA (territory of the Chochenyo-speaking Lisjan Ohlone people). My artwork focuses on capturing movement and fluidity as personal mark-making and authenic gesture.
I’m inspired by colors, gradients, patterning, and lines in nature — flora, sky, and the ocean surface and floor are some of my favs. These natural forms point to the expansiveness of life, create a language of awe and beauty that I explore in my artwork, and leaves me inquiring —  what can I learn from nature? What discoveries about myself does nature point to?
Being creative is an act of resistance and reclaiming of self from the all-consuming ways of modern life. I hope to inspire art-making as an entry-point to personal freedom and self-discovery in the people closest to me.
When not making art, my creativity goes towards designing operational models for creative teams at my day job and supporting artists with disabilities at Creative Growth.
gabcorant is shorthand for my lengthy name: Gabriela Cordeiro Antunes. I go by Gabi in person:)
